My background before entering the profession was in pure physics, and professionally I am now involved mainly with patents and designs. I have become something of a generalist, and I enjoy working on a varied range of mechanical, electrical and software-related technologies. The core of my practice is the drafting, filing and prosecution of patent applications in the UK and Europe, although I am also involved in obtaining patents worldwide.
I have represented clients in person before the UK and European Patent Offices, and I have also been involved in litigation in the UK and in several other countries across Europe, sometimes enforcing the same family of rights simultaneously in different jurisdictions.
I deal with both registered and unregistered design matters in the UK and elsewhere, and am a registered representative before the EU IPO, which grants community registered designs.
Outside work I am a keen reader, when my children allow me the occasional spare moment, and I also enjoy running, poker, Scrabble and snowboarding.
