Tim Ashton

Tim is a patent and trade mark attorney. His day-to-day work touches on a wide spectrum of IP matters, including UK and EPO drafting and prosecution of patent applications and trade mark and design work at the UK IPO and EUIPO. He also conducts freedom-to-operate searches across many technologies.
In 2020-22, he was involved in an important UK litigation for a medical devices client which also involved parallel EPO opposition/appeal proceedings. The result was positive for his client, which was professionally and personally rewarding.
Tim’s degree was focussed on mechanical and materials engineering and in his day-to-day work, he uses the significant knowledge he gained at university. His degree is of particular use for his work in the aerospace, defence and automotive sectors. One such example is carbon fibre composite construction, which was a main part of his final year studies at university.
Tim has clients in a wide range of sectors, with a particular focus on aerospace, defence, automotive and medical device clients as well as consumer goods clients.
Tim is mad about cycling, especially long-distance cycling. In 2023, he completed Paris-Brest-Paris which is a 1200 km non-stop race in France.
