Lara Weaver

Associate

Lara joined the Forresters in September 2020, and became a dual-qualified European and UK Patent Attorney in July 2025. She has extensive experience in managing patent prosecution before both the UK and European Patent offices, handling both direct European and PCT applications. She is also actively involved in the Equality and Diversity group at Forresters.

During her time at Forresters, Lara has gained experience in both drafting and prosecuting European and UK patent applications, including coordinating with foreign associates to manage and secure global patent protection. She also has experience in patent portfolio management, including audits and reviews of IP assets.

Her technical background is in both biochemistry and the molecular sciences. In particular, she has a firm understanding of protein biochemistry, cell signalling, metabolic pathways, genetics, medical devices, cancer biology and vaccine technology.

Lara works with clients of all sizes, ranging from individual inventors to international associates to secure patent protection in Europe and the UK.

After graduating from Cardiff University with a degree in Biochemistry, Lara decided to further her studies by completing a postgraduate degree in Clinical Biochemistry. Her thesis aimed to use the CRISPR-Cas9 technology to assess the functional characteristics of potential cancer driver genes.

Outside of work, Lara enjoys exploring museums and galleries. She is also a keen skier and newly qualified diver.
