Jack Dean

Senior Associate

Jack assists clients and foreign associates with patent drafting and prosecution matters before the UK Intellectual Property Office and the European Patent Office, particularly relating to innovations in the engineering and chemistry sectors. He also assists clients in developing their global patent portfolios, in places such as the US, China, and Japan.

Jack has worked on a range of interesting patent cases, including a system for capturing space debris, such as derelict rocket bodies. He has also assisted with a wave power generator, allowing electricity to be generated by ocean waves. Jack has worked with clients contributing to innovation in niche technological areas, such as x-ray airport baggage scanners and innovative polymers for increasing crop yields.

Jack has a background in chemistry, particularly relating to materials, but has also expanded his expertise by working in the electrical devices and software sectors, including work on semiconductors. Jack has also worked in the agricultural sector, assisting with smart farming patent applications, and is able to advise on a range of mechanical inventions.

From start-up businesses to household names, Jack’s client base is diverse and spans a range of industries, including automotive, agriculture, water supply, medical devices and process control, among others.

In his free time, Jack enjoys discovering new restaurants, playing badminton, and visiting new countries whenever possible.
