This increase shows that Forresters is a trusted European firm with significant expertise in prosecution before the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.epo.org\/en\">European Patent Office<\/a>. A large percentage of this increase related to the mechanical and electrical engineering fields, with particular gains in relation to machine tools, electrical machinery, apparatus and energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We also handled significant numbers of applications in the life sciences, chemistry and medical devices fields, with applications in these technical areas making up over half of total filings in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The increase in patent filings by Forresters was well-received by Managing Partner&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/forresters-ip.com\/people\/matthew-shaw\/\">Matt Shaw<\/a>, who said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe 39% increase in filings compared to 2022 is certainly impressive, and is a reflection of our dedication to enhancing the level of service we can offer; in particular, welcoming four fully-qualified patent attorneys in 2023, including two new hires at partner level in our Munich office.
